Luitgard Möschle

Luitgard Möschle plays generously with patterns already present on the fabric or even printed texts.

I work long and hard on a theme – and then at some point the time is ripe, the idea is hatched, and I start painting over fabrics – then printing. For me, the colours have to be coherent, they have to fit together according to my feeling. My stomach and my eyes decide on everything. The front/surface and its design determine the picture. I paint and print on the front of the fabric with wood block printing and also with linoleum printing. The background of these small boxes is a printing base that I never remove, and only when it bears many traces of colour, I use them as backgrounds.
