Sybille Bauer 2

Four new works by Sybille Bauer.

Small lake landscape, 12 x 12 cm; painted linen in cut-out technique and with embroidery on Chinese silk, decorated with beads at the edges.

Balance, 20 x 19 cm; geometric motif embroidered in monastic stitch. At first glance the inner, white-green square seems to tip the balance, at second glance the innermost, green-white square restores it. In the Wienhausen monastery in the Middle Ages, carpets were embroidered using a technique that covered the entire area (tension stitch and catch stitches). The technique is still taught there today.

No reason to see black, 45 x 40 cm; exploding colours, different materials and shapes in an appliqué with embroidery by hand and with a sewing machine, a desire not to let oneself be taken over mentally by the prevailing pandemic. Black kapa board frames the picture.

Small baroque garden, 9.5 x 11.5 cm; thus in handbag format. White is not a colour, but the embroidery on half-linen and raw silk nevertheless suggests the design of a planned garden.
